The East Anglia Area held the first of two workshops covering the A and B Certificate Fixed Wing Tests on Sunday 7th May at the South Norfolk MFC. Some 26 people had registered for the day but in the end we only had 22 turn up.
The event was run by our Area Achievement Scheme Coordinator, Phil Gutteridge, assisted by one of the Area ACEs, Bill Michie. The South Norfolk Club members pitched in to help the day run smoothly and had a great BBQ which ran from 10 till 3! Well done chaps.
We always encourage not just Examiners to attend since instructors play a major role in getting candidates ready for the test. We also encourage candidates to attend so that they can see what the standard is that they need to achieve.
The programme covered the A Test in the morning. Bill Michie played the part of the student who was taking his A Test and did a great job in demonstrating what to do and not to do in the pre flight checks and then the A Test. The group then discussed what they had observed and we had a lively discussion on what was acceptable and what was not! At the conclusion, Bill flew an A Test to the required standard. The afternoon session covered the B Test and just covered the flying side. Again, a B Test of an acceptable standard was demonstrated by Bill. Feedback from attendees was that the day was excellent.
Many thanks to the SNMFC for hosting this very successful event and we did get them another member!
