Brief update on the Autumn BMFA Council meeting

I attended the autumn BMFA Council meeting in my role of Area delegate. The main business related to finance where the key points were that the Association made a small operating surplus in 2018/19 and it will be proposed to the AGM that there will be no increase in member fees for 2020.

However, the need to grow our membership remains and the workshop at Buckminster on 2 November will be a good opportunity to work with Paul Tallett, our PR consultant on how can recruit members. Information about this workshop has already been circulated and is a pre cursor to the MayFly promotion of model flying next year which is aimed at encouraging others to take up our hobby.

Dave Phipps gave an update on DRES (Drone registration) which reflected his post on the BMFA website of 23 August. We agreed that Dave would be the single source of information to avoid misinformation and confusion so I will leave it there other than to say it seems progress is being made.

Just a reminder that the Associations AGM is on 16 November in Daventry. For details see https://bmfa.org/AGM-2019 I will be attending and if you wish to me to represent your club please let me know.
